Autumn is coming to an end, which means that it will soon start snowing in the Tatra Mountains and in Podhale. We checked what winter attractions for adults and children in Zakopane will be waiting this year.
Zakopane was not without reason called the Winter Capital of Poland. Numerous ski lifts and other winter attractions attract tens of thousands of tourists to the Tatras every year, each of which will find attractions that are right for you.
In Zakopane, there are two large ski resorts on Harendzie and Polana Szymoszkowa. We will find there routes for both skiers and those who will only take their first steps. Thanks to this, it is a perfect place for families with children. Each of the family members will be able to choose the route to their skills.
For families where everyone is just beginning to learn to ride, we recommend ski schools at Wielka Krokiew and Nosal. Slopes with a very small slope and the company of other people who are also just learning to ride guarantees safety and a good atmosphere.
Speaking of ski slopes, you can not skip Kasprowwego Wierch and ski slopes in the Gąsienicowe and Goryczków Boilers as well as ski slopes from the top to Kuźnice. These routes are demanding and are the only alpine routes in Poland.
In the winter offer of Zakopane, there is also space for skating. Ice rinks are created every year at the lift on Harendzie, at ul. Grunwaldzka and Nowotarska and on the upper Równia Krupowa next to Krupówki.
When choosing an ice rink, you do not have to worry about skates, because there is a rental shop next to each one.
For several years in Zakopane and nearby towns you can see a return to the graces of cross-country skiing. Residents and tourists are more and more willing to appear at organized competitions and privately as part of active outdoor activities.
Cross-country trails can be found in the very center of Zakopane on the upper Krupowa Plain, under the jump and in Kościelisko, a few kilometers away, where over a dozen kilometers of trails are prepared in the winter.
